That’s one of the posts I saw lately on Reddit, and it broke my heart. Often, artists are overly critical of themselves. Some of them, even after purchasing the best of the best gear, think it will scale up their work, which in some cases can. Still feel the burden of their thoughts.

The thing is, most artists go through this loop (I studied art history), so from pretty much each century, there is an artist talking about this. BEING STUCK!

The Plateau No One Talks About

There’s a point in every creative journey that feels like a wall — that invisible line between skill and vision. You can know all the technical stuff, shoot at the right time of day, compose correctly, edit beautifully… and still, something feels off.

So I will say when you are in this energy, the worst thing you can do is start to look at others and compare yourself. Being inspired is different than feeding the inner critic.

Plus, we are probably in the century with the most production of images, so it’s very easy to feel everything looks the same, or again feel stuck.

Maybe the problem isn’t that we’re not improving — it’s that we’re measuring improvement in the wrong way.

Improvement isn’t always about sharper images or more followers or better compositions. Sometimes, it’s about learning to notice again. About slowing down enough to see what draws you in — even if it’s something small, quiet, or ordinary and make peace with yourself,

Perhaps less is more:

Taking fewer photos, but more intentionally.

Letting yourself be without guilt.

Paying attention to what genuinely makes me pause.

Appreciate the moment, the journey
